About Alisa

  • Hey! My name is Alisa and I love to create; creating is like breathing for me, I have to do it!
  • I'm from Montgomery, AL and come from a long line of creative, resourceful people.  I'm constantly amazed at all the "little things" I've picked up from my parents, grandparents, other relatives and my sister.
  • I am married to a wonderfully wise and patient man who gives me a "wide berth"in regards to all my creative endeavors...and 2 boys who are very flexible in going with the flow knowing that often the house is either "feast or famine" in regards to food or folded clothes!!
  • I've been "creating" all my life...for as long as I can remember I've always wanted to create beauty...whatever the medium - flowers, fabric, paint, furniture.
  • I love color and contrast, lights and darks, shadow and dimension.
  • I get my best ideas while running or driving (I have sticky notes all over my car and house!)
  • My creativity is nourished by the many things I surround myself with; memories, wonderful smelling candles and great music.
  • I'm a self-taught artist (no formal training) learning and growing as I go.
  • I enjoy every part of the creative process; beginning, middle and end...it's all fascinating and enjoyable and I'm always surprised at the results.
  • I love Jesus with all my heart and my family and friends fiercely. Whatever I do, I want to do to the glory of God (I Cor 10:31). I truly believe that painting is a way of expressing beauty...the beauty that God has placed within my heart.

Decatur Daily photo by John Godbey

Alisa Poole of Decatur grew up painting. Her mother, an artist, encouraged Poole's creativity growing up, even allowing her young daughter to paint her antique tea cart bright orange.

Today, the creative bug still hasn't left the wife and mother of two boys. The upstairs studio in her home overlooks a garden, and became her refuge to paint and sew when she and her family moved in 6 years ago. Last year, however, was the first time she started to seriously focus on painting. She has many paintings of local churches as well as flowers.
