"When I Get Stuck"....

"Remember that as a creative person, the important thing is to create.  Who sees what you make, where it goes and what it does is a secondary consideration; the first is to exercise the talent God has given you." - Franky Schaeffer, Addicted to Mediocrity: 20th Century Christianity and the Arts.

This is such an encouragement to me when I get stuck and lose my focus on why I'm painting. It's very easy to paint for someone else besides God. I can get so focused on painting to please other people that it takes away all my creative zest and flavor...I paint first and foremost to glorify God and to express my love for Him...whatever happens next is just extra!

This quote and your comments are so true. I would love to share this with my theatre students next week. The diva mentality creeps in easily after a successful show. That is the current state. Do it for God always- let's know why we do what we do.

I found that quote in the book "The Creative Call" (I have a link to it on my blog page under books...it's a great book!)
